What to do When You're Overwhelmed

Updated: Feb 14, 2023

We've all been there. You're juggling a million things, and suddenly it feels like the world's weight is on your shoulders. Your to-do list is a mile long, and you need to see how you'll get it all done. You may even feel anxious or stressed. But don't worry; we've got you covered. Here are four simple steps to get yourself out of being overwhelmed and back on track.

1. Make a List

The first thing you need to do when you're feeling overwhelmed is to make a list of everything that's on your plate. Get it all down on paper (or on your phone), so you can see it clearly and tackle it one item at a time. Sometimes, getting everything out of your head and onto paper can help you feel more in control and less stressed.

2. Prioritize

Once you have your list, it's time to prioritize. What needs to be done right away? What can wait a day or two? What can be delegated to someone else? By identifying what's most important, you can start tackling the things weighing on you the most.

3. Take Action

Now that you know what needs to be done and in what order, it's time to take Action. Choose one task from your list and focus all your energy on completing it. Set a timer for 20 minutes and work on that task until the timer goes off. Once it does, take a five-minute break before starting on the next job.

4. Repeat

Rinse and repeat until all of your tasks are complete! Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day—but by taking things one step at a time, anything is possible.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, don't panic! These four simple steps will help you get back on track in no time flat. Remember to make a list, prioritize, take Action, and repeat until everything is done!
