When you hear the term "energy vampire," what comes to mind? If you're like most people, you probably think of creatures of the night who feast on human blood. But another kind of energy vampire is far more common—and far more dangerous. These people suck the life out of you with their negativity and drama. Being around them can leave you feeling drained, tired, and sick.

Fortunately, there are ways to protect yourself from these energy vampires. In this blog post, we'll show you how to identify and avoid energy vampires.

How to Identify Energy Vampires

Energy vampires come in all shapes and sizes. They can be family members, friends, co-workers, or even strangers. They might be negative Nancys who are always complaining or drama queens who are always starting arguments. Or they might be people who are always asking for your help but never returning the favor.

There are two main types of energy vampires: emotional and psychic. Emotional energy vampires are people who drain your emotional energy. They might do this by constantly complaining or by starting arguments. Psychic energy vampires are people who drain your psychic energy. They might do this by talking incessantly or by invading your personal space.

Here are some other signs that someone might be an energy vampire:

• They regularly cancel plans at the last minute.

• They're always late for appointments.

• They deliberately create chaos in their lives.

• They thrive on drama and gossip.

• They're always trying to control others.

• They take without ever giving back.

• They have a victim mentality.

Avoiding Energy Vampires

Now that you know how to identify energy vampires, it's time to learn how to avoid them. The best way to do this is to set boundaries with the people in your life—including family, friends, and co-workers. Here are some tips for setting boundaries with energy vampires:

• Be assertive about what you will and won't tolerate from others. If someone regularly cancels plans with you at the last minute, let them know that it's not acceptable behavior and that you won't continue to put up with it.

• Don't feel guilty about setting boundaries with others—you have a right to protect your time and energy!

• Don't try to change or fix other people—it's not your job (and it's not possible).

• Stick to your boundaries even if other people don't like them—you can't always please everyone (and you shouldn't try).

It's essential to be aware of the signs that someone might be an energy vampire so that you can protect yourself from them. Remember, these people can drain your emotional and psychic energy, leaving you tired, sick, and even depressed. The best way to avoid them is to set boundaries with the people in your life—including family, friends, and co-workers—so that they know what behavior is and isn't acceptable to you.
